George Nikolaou Lionis, originally from Crete, is the founder of Freddo. At the age of 40, he already had a promising career in the refrigeration industry as head of sales for a leading trading and manufacturing company.

Gaining 20 years of experience from the Greek and German market, he decided to implement his vision for his own company, while setting as a cornerstone for its realization, a unique combination of products and services of high performance and reliability.

Freddo was founded in December of 1989. Its headquarters were located at 209 Athens Avenue, in Egaleo, Attica.

In September 1990 Freddo undertook the first 3 projects / super markets of the company Veropoulos Bros., the number one commercial supermarket chain of that period.

In the following years and until 2004, Freddo's clients are Alfa-Beta Vassilopoulos, Dia Hellas, Carrefour Marinopoulos. At the same time, the company is carrying out its first facilities outside of Greece, specifically in Skopje.

In 2008, Freddo opens and moves to its privately owned facilities in Agios Stefanos, Attica, on Irini 1 & Odysseos Streets. On an area of ​​10,000 m2 and 3 levels, the new facilities support storage, logistics, construction services. At the same time, sales and refrigeration facilities outside the borders continue in Cyprus.

In 2010 finds Freddo a pioneer in the execution of the 1st CO2 subcritical installation in Greece and specifically in Stamata Attica (Bream Awarded) of the chain AB Vassilopoulos Ahold Delhaize.

2012 marks the beginning of cooperation with the Sklavenitis chain.

The development continues in 2017 with the historical chain of Northern Greece, Masoutis Diamantis, trusting Freddo in the new CO2 technologies.

Until today, the super market chains of Masoutis Diamantis, AB Vassilopoulos Ahold, Hellenic Supermarkets Sklavenitis, cooperate with Freddo by assigning projects with the refrigerant of the future CO2 following the innovative technology FTE (Full Transcritical Efficiency) of Epta Group.

The smaller supermarket chains, the butcher chains, but also the individual customers of Freddo, are a key and important part of its development.

Freddo has already reached 32 years of stable operation.

2012 marks the promising transition.

Nikolas Georgiou Lionis, following in the footsteps of his father, assumes the position of Operations Director and Freddo looks in to the future with optimism and confidence.

In 2021 Freddo is the official representative for Greece and Cyprus of the Epta Group, which consists of the factories of:

Freddo's staff and associates, now number over 80, including technical, management and executive staff. As a whole, they follow the values ​​of George Lionis and are the "key" to the stable and evolving course of the company he created.

The Freddo branch in Thessaloniki, Freddo North, has been operating since June 2017 at 8a Halkis Str. 55535 Pylaia.
